How about meeting at the café of the Israel museum at 12:30? We can have a light lunch there. I'm writing from a remote email location presently. Perhaps we can speak in the morning to confirm. Call me on my cell phone 050-621-6153. I will be in a meeting from 10 to 11:30.

Dear Howard,

Thank you so much for your willingness to meet with Terry Rea tomorrow, January 28.  I wonder if the following might work for you:

You and Terry to meet for lunch at a place of your choosing convenient to your office at 12:30?  Then she could be on her way to the Patent Office at 2:00 pm for her 3:00 pm meeting with Asa Kling.  Terry very much looks forward to the opportunity to meet you.

All the best,

Melissa Coyle

Dear Melissa,

I would be happy to meet with Terry. At 4:30 I won't be available, however I will be available on the 28th between 11:30 and 14:30. While the distance between the Ministry and the Patent office is perhaps only 4 or 5 miles "as the crow flies", car travel between our offices can take up to 45 minutes when traffic is heavy. At mid-day there shouldn't  be much traffic, but then predicting Jerusalem traffic is less than an exact science.

Let me know what works for Terry.

Best,

Howard

Subject: Visit of Terry Rea to Israel - Meeting Request

Dear Howard,

Please allow me to introduce myself.  I am Melissa Coyle, Director at C&M International, a consulting firm affiliated with Crowell & Moring law firm.  As you may know, Crowell & Moring is sponsoring a conference in Israel on Thursday, January 30, to promote expanded trade relations between Israel and the United States.  I work with Doral Cooper, CEO and Chairman of C&M International.  Doral was chief negotiator for the U.S.-Israel free trade agreement when she was at USTR; I also assisted in the bilateral FTA negotiations when I was at USTR (handling non-tariff barrier issues).  I remember fondly negotiating with your government!

Rachel Hirschler passed on your name to me as someone I might contact to set up a meeting for a colleague, Terry Rea, who will be visiting Israel next week.  Terry is a patent and intellectual property rights attorney with Crowell & Moring (and also a Director with C&M International).  She previously was the Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Acting Deputy Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in the Obama Administration.  Terry will be meeting with Asa Kling at the Israeli Patent Office at 3PM on Tuesday, January 28th.  I wonder if she could schedule a meeting with you after that – perhaps at 4:30PM?  Or perhaps before that meeting?  A particular matter of interest would be ways to increase international protection for trade secrets, but she would also be happy to have a broader discussion of issues.

I look forward to hearing from you about a suggested meeting.  I have pasted Terry’s bio at the bottom of this message.

Many thanks for your attention to this request.

Kind regards,

Melissa Coyle
