נציין כי משרד החוץ הדגישו כי נכון יהיה להכין את היועץ גם לנקודות שייתכן והבריטים יעלו בפניו. אולם, לדברי שושי משרד החוץ יוכלו להעביר לנו נקודות אלה רק לקראת סוף החודש, לאחר דיאלוג שקבוע להם מול הבריטים בעוד כשבועיים ובהתאם לזאת.

 Suggested talking points for the Attorney General's meeting with his British counterparts:

 

1.      We were informed by Ms. Livni that she was told by the relevant British authorities that the file regarding the complaint against her was closed.  We welcome this news, as Israeli officials and former officials, experienced in a vast range of national security issues, travel to the UK for meetings on a broad range of issues, including national security, which is an important part of the continuing relationship between our two countries. 

 

2.      In recent months, the office of the Attorney General and the State Attorney, as well as Israel's Supreme Court and legal system have been under attack by activists promoting a political agenda against Israel, and it is important for us to strengthen these institutions and protect the rule of law, and Israel's ability to conduct independent investigations regarding matters related to international humanitarian law. In this regard, it would be helpful if relevant British authorities would make public statements recognizing the independence of Israel's legal system, including the independence of its courts and prosecutorial authorities and their ability to investigate and handle issues regarding allegations arising under international law and international humanitarian law.

  

3.      [Perhaps we can suggest to strengthen the dialogue between our respective offices in counter-terrorism and national security issues (or potentially on other civil/criminal issues as well).]

 

We would like to increase the cooperation between our respective offices in the legal sphere, and in that respect we would like to invite relevant officials in your office to Israel for a study visit in which we can exchange views on challenges and opportunities in a variety of legal fields of mutual interest. Some suggested topics which may be of interest include:

•        Tools to combat radicalization and incitement on social media

•        Rehabilitation of terrorist offenders

•        Identifying and combatting extremism

•        Methods of controlling terrorist financing

 

o   Litigating Foreign Claims:

•        Tools for keeping abreast of foreign litigation

•        Litigating foreign claims; local representation; immunities; cross-border discovery

 

o   Environmental Protection

•        Litigating environmental violations of corporations in domestic courts

•        Corporate Social Responsibility – domestic practice
