Yeah, of course neither of those documents is presented as proof positive of the veracity of all its contentions, rather they're both somewhat blurry combinations of facts and perceptions, which makes them very interesting and relevant indeed.

Thanks for the Twain article. He lived most of his life a few miles from where I grew up and his house is a museum.

 

As for Weimar, I can agree that individual Jews were dominant in all fields, but hardly alone and it is far cry to say that there was Jewish Domination. Jews reached high positions in the government, the most famous and capable being Walter Rathenau, and he was very assimilated. Still the Krups, Seimens and many other industrialists and the politicians with real power were not Jewish and not dominated by individual Jews or Jews collectively. A similar canard is claimed about Jewish neo-cons dominating the Bush Junior administration. Clearly there were individual Jews who reached high positions in the Bush Junior administration, but at the end of the day the only decision making power lay with a couple of goys, Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld for example.

 

Still, the issue of stereo types and how a group (or individual) perceives itself and how that same group may be perceived by other groups and how those groups may act on, or not act on, those perceptions is clearly a complex topic worthy of many more lunch discussions.
