1. Personal Data Protection
· EU update on the following issues: new draft DP regulation, especially concerning definition of personal data; Recent opinions or guidelines regarding cloud computing; Decisions, guidelines or opinions concerning anonymization of party or witnesses data in court decisions, published or processed by legal databases operators (EU leads);
· Update on the recent developments in the field of personal data protection in Israel: Proposed legislation for the amendment of the Privacy Protection Act (reduction of registry obligations and establishment of accountability mechanisms); Guidelines for employment agencies and screening tests institutions; Guidelines regulating privacy aspects of CCTV; Criminal convictions for the theft of personal data.
2. Judicial cooperation
· State of play on the negotiations with Europol and Eurojust (EU leads).
· Presentation of proposals for exchange of information and cooperation by the Israel Public Defender's Office in the following fields: Legal aid in criminal proceedings, including interrogations, trials, prison hearings, and extradition proceedings; Penal policy and sentencing practices; Prison conditions and early release policies; Juvenile justice in criminal proceedings; Addressing wrongful convictions; In addition, we would also be interested in cooperating in advancing training for lawyers.
