Understanding Current Challenges to EU Trade Policy

Maastricht, 22-23 October 2013

This seminar focuses on new developments in the EU’s common commercial policy which have occurred during recent years.

It assesses the impact of the new generation of EU Free Trade Agreements, in particular the TTIP, and highlights the newly acquired role of the European Parliament, as well as the external factors shaping international trends in trade relations. On the second day it considers Member States’ preferences as well as the processes and procedures involved in arriving at the EU’s negotiating position in trade negotiations.

The seminar includes an insight into lobbying activities in Brussels in the area of trade policy.
