Dear Members, Substitute Members and Observer,
ODIHR, in cooperation with the Venice Commission, is in the process of developing Guidelines on the Recognition of Religious or Belief Communities. These Guidelines will cover both international standards and good practices in the area.
Please find attached a questionnaire prepared by ODIHR which will help us to sort out the best practices in member states in this field.
I would be grateful if you could inform me, before 15 August 2013, whether there have been developments in your respective countries that should be included in the “best practices” and also on your availability to answer to the questionnaire on the recognition of religious Communities (which includes questions concerning types of legal personality, requirements for obtaining recognition, responsible state bodies and procedure, consequences of obtaining legal entity status, dissolution and bans, etc.)
Should you inform us on your availability to answer the questions in the questionnaire, you will be asked to provide us your written answers before the end of September 2013, in return for a fee.
