Dear HoFIU,

 

 

We trust you are well!

 

On July 6th, 2020, the HoFIU, after considering the results of the IT Review project, agreed to proceed with the suggested “Go Option” and design the specific security, technical, financial and governance models of the new Egmont Group IT system. The HoFIU noted the primary importance of security as the main prerequisite of the new system. They also outlined the need for careful consideration of the financial aspects of the IT renewal and their implications for member FIUs and provided further valuable guidance for the upcoming phase.

 

The HoFIU assigned the abovementioned task to an interim governance structure, which is planned to be compiled of several sub-teams, working with different prerogatives related to:

  • The technical development of the system (Technical Team);
  • The policy and other legal requirements (Policy Team);
  • Issues for further consideration and the future developments required for the new IT system (Future Developments Team).

     

     

    The successful completion of all tasks would require a multidisciplinary approach with substantial support provided by all bodies of the organization and the EGS.

     

    However, as explained during the discussion on July 6th, the primary expertise, especially regarding the FIU security, IT and business requirements, stays with member FIUs. Therefore, this would require the allocation of FIU resources of skilful and experienced experts. Among other things, these experts should also have business experience with the successful completion of IT-related projects as well as with the business needs of an efficient international FIU cooperation.

     

    We, therefore, would like to ask you to volunteer such FIU staff experts to participate in this critical project for the entire Egmont Group.

     

    To allow effective allocation within the project sub-teams, based on the expertise and experience of the volunteered staff, but also considering the project needs, we ask you to complete the attached form and return it to the EGS (to Nedko.krumov@egmontsecretariat.org) by August 24th, 2021.
