We would like to inform you of the departure of Mr. Leopoldo Quirόs from FIU Ecuador on June 8th, 2021.
Mr. Quirόs was selected as the Vice-Chair of the Technical Assistance and Training Working Group in Mauritius in January 2020. Mr. Quirόs gladly started to lead the Best Egmont Case Award (BECA) and the second BECA publication projects. Despite the COVID-19 outbreak, the 2020 BECA Competition proceeded without interruption. Following Mr. Bernardo Mota’s departure in December, he accepted the position of the Chair of TATWG without hesitation in January 2021 and introduced several new initiatives to the TATWG Business Plan. During his service as the Vice-Chair and Chair, his commitment to the TATWG’s work was highly appreciated..
According to the TATWG Internal Procedures, Vice-Chair Mr. Amr Rashed shall become Chair to serve the unexpired term (Article V para 5) until January 2022, when the new TATWG leadership is selected. If no concern or opposition regarding Mr. Rashed’s appointment is communicated to EGS at michelle.ouyang@egmontsecretariat.org by Thursday, June 18th, Mr. Rashed will be presented to the EC for endorsement as the TATWG Chair.
