Dear Heads of FIU,

I hope this message finds you well and safe.

In December 2020, our colleague, Mr. Bernardo Mota, informed the Egmont Committee that he was leaving COAF, FIU Brazil at the end of 2020 and would thus resign form his position of Chair of the Technical Assistance and Training Working Group (TATWG). Consistent with Section 6.4.C of the EG Charter and the TATWG Internal Procedures (article V para. 5), the TATWG leadership discussed about the situation and agreed that Mr. Leopoldo Quirós, Head of FIU Ecuador and one of the two TATWG Vice Chairs, will serve as the TATWG Chair. This was supported by the TATWG membership.

Today I am pleased to inform you that the Egmont Committee has endorsed Mr. Leopoldo Quirós as the Chair of TATWG until January 2021, when a new Chair is selected.

I want to congratulate Mr. Leopoldo Quirós and wish you all the best for 2021 despite the extremely difficult situation we are going through due to the pandemic.
