***ESW message to TATWG members***

Dear TATWG members,

We hope this email finds you well.

As you are aware, the Executive Secretary launched a call for nominations for the position of one Vice Chair of the Technical Assistance and Training Working Group (TATWG) on 22 February 2021, requesting the Heads of FIU to send nominations by 11 May 2021. Within the deadlines, the Executive Secretary received two qualified nominations from the TATWG regular members.

During our recent communications with the TATWG leadership, both Mr. Quirόs and Mr. Amr Rashed (Vice Chair) envisaged the needs and benefits of having two new Vice Chairs in developing and implementing the ambitious Working Group projects and the Working Group members also support this proposal which is consistent with the Egmont’s bylaws.

In this regard, we are pleased to announce the two nominations below :

·       Ms. Maria E. Holguín López, Director General, FIU of Dominican Republic

·       Mr. Meriton Shoshi, Financial analyst, FIU of Kosovo

The selection will take place in the upcoming TAWG meeting on Monday, 28th June 2021. In line with para. 13 & 14 of the Selection Process stated in the Voting Rules for the Election of WG Chairs and Vice-Chairs, each candidate will be invited to make a short presentation (5 minutes) on how they intend to serve as Vice-Chair, and what they can bring and offer to the role. Then the candidate(s) will be asked to stay in a break-out room during a discussion amongst the members to ensure that every member can express their views and any potential concerns or objections where the members should strive to reach a consensus on the selection.

According to para. 15 of the Voting Rules, if the members reach consensus on the selection of the two Vice-Chairs, then the Egmont Group Secretariat will submit the results to the EC for endorsement.

If a consensus is NOT reached, the EGS will initiate an election process by secret ballot (para. 16) and follow the Procedure for conducting elections by secret ballot stated from para. 17- 30 of the Voting Rules.

The nominations of the two candidates and the Voting Rules for the Election of WG Chairs and Vice-Chairs are enclosed for your reference.

Kind regards,

EGS
