**Message on behalf of the Interim Egmont Group Chair**
Dear Colleagues,
I hope this message finds you all in good health.
In accordance with the Contingency Plan put in place following the postponement of the Oaxaca Plenary meeting, the Heads of FIUs opted to select the first Egmont Group (EG) Vice Chairs through an out-of-session process. All relevant documents for the selection process were made available to the HoFIU (via ESW) on June 04th, 2020. This included the recommendations of the Advisory Panel for the selection of Mr. Marko Stolle, FIU Germany, and of Ms. Xolisile Khanyile, FIC South Africa, as Vice-Chairs of the Egmont Group. A four-week interval for comments was allowed, with a return deadline of Friday, July 03rd, 2020.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the HoFIU for their full support of the Advisory Panel’s (AP) recommendations. Considering that no opposition/objections were expressed by the HoFIU to the recommendations of the AP regarding the selection of the EG Vice-Chairs, under the authority provided by the EG Charter (Section 6.2-B-2), I hereby conclude that there is consensus among the HoFIU for the selection of the following Egmont Group Vice-Chairs:
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Marko and Xolisile as our new Egmont Group Vice-Chairs. Their readiness to step-up and their commitment to this organisation is highly appreciated.
Consistent with the decision made by the HoFIU in The Hague (July 2019), following the selection of the new EG Vice-Chairs, the positions of Egmont Committee Vice-Chairs no longer exist. I extend my sincerest thanks to Mrs. Ramatoulaye Gadio Agne, HoFIU CENTIF Senegal, for her support and hard work during her time as EC Vice-Chair.
With regards to the position of Egmont Group Chair, as I am the only candidate for the position, I prefer to recuse myself from wrapping up the HoFIU consensus on the selection of the new Egmont Group Chair. I have opted to leave this task in the competent hands of our newly selected Vice-Chairs, as per the authority afforded to the role in the EG Charter (Section 6.2-D-7 & 8).
The Egmont Group Secretariat will update the EG public website to reflect the new roles of Marko and Xolisile.
Kind regards,
Hennie
