Letter to all IEWG members


Dear IEWG colleagues,


As you are aware, on 21 August 2018 the Executive Secretary announced a call for nominations for the position of IEWG Chair. The deadline for submission of nominations was Friday 7 September 2018. Following the requirements of Annex A - Voting Rules for the Election of WG Chairs and Vice-Chairs (attached), and in order to conduct the selection process in full transparency, we would like to inform you that:

  • The selections process will be conducted in accordance with the requirements of Annex A - Voting Rules for the Election of WG Chairs and Vice-Chairs (hereafter: The Voting Rules);
  • In accordance with point 9 of the Voting Rules, "the Secretariat, will advise all members of the nominations...". Hence, we would like to announce that within the deadline the Secretariat received two nominations - of Mr. Youssef EL OMARY (from FIU Morocco) and of Mr. Marko STOLLE (from FIU Germany);
  • The selection of the new IEWG Chair will take place on Monday, 24 September, 2018 as agenda item 3 (from 9:30 to 10:00 am);
  • Please be aware that in accordance with point 20 of The Voting Rules - "The rule of one (1) ballot per FIU applies";
  • Please be aware that in accordance with Article V, point 9 of the IEWG Rules on Internal Procedures (attached), "In conformity with the Charter of the Egmont Group, the Chair and the Vice-Chairs shall be appointed by regular members of the IEWG...";
  • The list with regular members of the IEWG (as mentioned above) will be shared with you shortly;

All other specific rules and requirements will be explained in details by the Secretariat during the specific IEWG agenda item on Monday (24 September).
