As some of you may be aware, FinCEN is leading three important projects under the umbrella of the FATF HoFIU Forum, which aims to enhance FIUs’ capabilities and understanding in dealing with specific topics, which they might be facing in their operations.

These projects will be highly beneficial for FIUs as they will focus on three very important areas: Virtual Assets, Proliferation Financing and Strategic Analysis. They will increase FIUs’ knowledge and will help FIUs to more effectively target financial crimes and terrorism financing through the usage of instruments and tools elaborated within the framework of the projects.

Dear Colleagues,

I am sending you this reminder about the upcoming deadline for your input to the (reattached) updated concept note for the proposed FATF Heads of FIU Forum project on FIU roles in countering proliferation financing.

Thank you to those that have been able to provide some initial input for this proposed concept note and draft questionnaire.  FinCEN is working to incorporate that feedback into a final concept note and draft questionnaire for full FIU Forum member discussion and approval at the meeting next month.  We expect to have that updated concept note and draft questionnaire, reflecting the input received, sent to all FATF Heads of FIU Forum members around 1 February 2019.
