Dear Heads of FIU,
We hope this email finds you well. Please be advised that recently Mrs. Silvina Rivarola informed us about her resignation to the position of Director of International Affairs of FIU Argentina, effective 31 January 2020. This means, to our regret, that she is no longer able to serve as Chair of the MSCWG from that date.
This is certainly a great loss for the Egmont Group community. Over the years Silvina has shown a strong commitment to the fight against ML and TF, both at the national level and also at the Egmont Group level, first as Vice Chair and recently as Chair of the Membership Support and Compliance Working Group (MSCWG). Her hard work, loyalty, work ethic and leadership will be missed by all her colleagues, especially in the Egmont Committee. Please rest assure that soon we will share our gratitude and appreciation to Silvina using the appropriate channels.
Regarding the vacancy in the position of the MSCWG Chair, please be advised that according to its Rules on Internal Procedures, the working group has confirmed one of its Vice-Chairs, Mr. Abdelsattar Elnajar (FIU Egypt), as Interim Chair of the MSCWG until a new selection process is held in Mexico (July 2020).
We would also like to thank the FIU Egypt and Mr. Elnajar for stepping in under these extraordinary circumstances. We are convinced that under his leadership, and with the support of the other Vice Chair, Mr. Fuad Aliyev (FIU Azerbaijan), the MSCWG will successfully continue performing its important tasks.
