Dear Heads of FIUs,

I hope this email finds you well.

As you know, our organization will select a new Chair during the 26th Egmont Group (EG) Plenary in The Hague, the Netherlands (1-5 July 2019).

There has been a four-week nomination period, (starting February 1^st, 2019) and one nomination was received from Mr. Mariano FEDERICI, Head of Unidad de Información Financiera Argentina (FIU Argentina). Consistent with the rules in place, I convened an Advisory Panel that reviewed this nomination and assessed the eligibility of the candidate, based on an overall consideration of the eligibility for selection criteria listed in the attached Terms of Reference and Selection Procedure for the Chair of the Egmont Group (Terms of Reference).

I am happy to inform you that Mr. Mariano FEDERICI has been deemed eligible for the position of Chair of the Egmont Group by the Advisory Panel.

Please note that the next steps in the selection procedure are:

1. The Advisory Panel will continue its work for determining whether Mr. Mariano FEDERICI’s qualifications meet the skills and experience criteria for the position of EG Chair, as listed in the Terms of Reference. One month before the meeting in The Hague (at the latest), the Advisory Panel will provide a written recommendation to the HoFIU in this respect, explaining also the basis for its recommendation;
2. In the meantime, Mr. Mariano FEDERICI will share in writing with the HoFIU a presentation of his skills and experience, as well as, his vision for the Egmont Group, to give the HoFIU enough time to consider his candidacy in preparation for the meeting in The Hague;
3. During the HoFIU meeting in The Hague (July 2019):
   • Mr. Mariano FEDERICI will present his candidacy before the HoFIU,
   • The Advisory Panel will present its recommendation and the basis for it,
   • The HoFIU will consider and decide on the next Egmont Group Chair.
