Letter to all IEWG members

Dear IEWG members,

We were approached by one of our Observers - INTERPOL, kindly asking us to help them to extend their invitation for the upcoming INTERPOL's Global Conference on Criminal Finances and Cryptocurrencies on 27 and 28 May 2020 to the FIU community.

In this sense we are sending you this "save the date" message on their behalf.

Event:   4th Global Conference on Criminal Finances and Cryptocurrencies, co-organised within the tripartite partnership between the Basel Institute on Governance, Europol and INTERPOL

Place:    INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI), SINGAPORE

Date:     27 and 28 May 2020

The main objective of the two-day conference is to bring together practitioners from both the public and private sectors to share knowledge, expertise and best practices for financial investigations and intelligence relating to virtual assets/cryptocurrencies. In particular, INTERPOL aims to improve and strengthen the collective understanding, knowledge, capabilities and expertise on virtual assets/cryptocurrencies through a series of discussions and presentations by experts in the field. This would include information on the developments, latest trends as well as modus operandi and case studies.

Day 1 will be opened to private sector (such as VASP etc.) as well, whilst day 2 is only foreseen for public sector and authorities (LEA, FIU, organizations such as EG, FATF, FSRBs, UNODC, etc.). There is no fee for participation. Travel and accommodation expenses have to be covered by the home administrations.

From INTERPOL side, Mr. Jung Kee YOU (j.you@interpol.int) and Mr. Muhammad IMRAN (m.imran@interpol.int) are pleased to serve as contact points for any kind of questions. Hence, if you have any questions or further requirements, please contact them directly.

A circular and invitation letter (incl. draft agenda, logistics info, etc.) will be available and finalized soon and could/will be also provided to the EGS.

Participation from FIU representatives has to be covered by the home administrations. Hence, no expenses will be covered by INTERPOL.

Thank you very much.

Best regards,

IEWG Leadership
