Dear Heads of FIU
The Training and Technical Assistance Working Group is delighted to present the second publication of the Best Egmont Financial Analysis cases. This book contains 26 cases selected from 117 case submissions in 2014–2020 Best Egmont Case Award (BECA) competitions and showcases the excellent work done by FIUs in identifying and prosecuting money laundering offences.
The 26 cases were selected under key predicate offences associated ML/TF Typologies with regional balance, namely, Bribery and Corruption, Cybercrime and cryptocurrencies, Drug Trafficking, Fraud and Embezzlement, Smuggling and Gambling, TBML and Third-Party Money Laundering, Terrorism Financing, Human Trafficking and Organized Crime.
As you are probably aware, the book contains materials that can be used in the widest context, and its audience can be anyone who is interested in understanding how financial analysis a vital component of a money laundering investigation is.
The main format for this publication will be an eBook available on the Egmont public website to measure the benefit of our work and monitor the number of times that the book is accessed or downloaded.
