**Letter on behalf of the IEWG**

Dear HoFIU,

We trust you are well!

It is a pleasure to present to your attention the two products (XML schema and PDF form) produced within the IEWG Flexible, Consistent Information Exchange Standards project for approval.

The Flexible, Consistent Information Exchange Standards project was approved as part of the Information Exchange Working Group (IEWG) Stream 3 – Enhancing Data Analytics and Effective and Secure Communications and launched in February 2016 during the meeting in Monaco. This project examined Egmont Group's information-sharing mechanisms to ensure they promote flexibility, consistency, and compatibility in formats. In addition, this project explored solutions to enhance information sharing through information technology innovation.

Based on all feedback received within the project testing phases, all team meetings and IEWG meetings, the project team was able to finalize the following products:

·          PDF requesting form – allowing FIUs with less sophisticated IT systems to use the form, even without being able to benefit directly from the XML schema;

·          XML schema (behind the PDF requesting form) – allowing direct integration of the form into the IT systems of the FIU that have the relevant technology;

The PDF form's implementation will be relatively easy and will not require any additional technological investments by the FIUs. However, the XML schema behind the form will require certain adjustments of FIUs' IT systems. This will mean that in practice, FIUs should integrate the XML schema into their own IT systems.

Following all testing phases, policy consultation with PPWG, additional amendments and enhancements of the two products, they are now ready to be presented for their final approval.

The HoFIU are asked to agree to put the two products into production without making their use mandatory. Nonetheless, FIUs will be encouraged to start immediately using the XML and PDF when sending requests to their FIU counterparts. Further analyses of this use and the additional steps following these analyses are described in the attached MEMO.

Please provide your feedback and endorsement by September 20th (Monday) to nedko.krumov@egmont.org.

Thank you very much.

Kind regards,

IEWG
