Thank you very much for reviewing the final report prepared by the EC Sub-group. Only 2 FIUs made comments, which have been addressed bilaterally.
Taken this into consideration, please be advised that with this final report the EC fact-finding initiative related to this case would be formally concluded. Nonetheless, and as mentioned in the EC Sub-group’s final report, based on its roles and functions stipulated in the Charter the Americas Regional Representatives will engage with FinCEN for addressing the pending concern: whether the information provided by other FIUs to FinCEN has been unlawfully disclosed. Based on the information to be provided by the Regional Representatives, the EC will agree on the way forward and will update the HoFIU accordingly.

On behalf of the Egmont Committee (EC), I would like to share with you the EC Sub-group’s final report related to the fact-finding initiative that analyzed the unlawful disclosure of SARS and other sensitive government information at the United States Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).
The EC-subgroup responsible for this fact-finding initiative was formed by:

- Mr. Sergio Espinosa (FIU Peru), Regional Representative for the Americas
- Mrs. Xolisile Khanyile (FIU South Africa), Egmont Group Vice Chair
- Mr. Marko Stolle (FIU Germany), former Chair of the IEWG and former Egmont Group Vice Chair (as an advisor, until 4 February 2021)
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the EC Sub-group for their work and the professionalism showed when conducting this important task.
