Dear HoFIU,
Thank you very much for your responses to this request. We can confirm that HoFIU have ENDORSED the decision taken by the Egmont Committee that accepts the expression of interest sent by INTERPOL for becoming an observer of our organization.
Following what is stated in the Egmont Group Partnership with Observers and International AML/CFT Partners, the Chair of the Egmont Group will now notify INTERPOL of the above mentioned outcome. The Secretariat will then establish formal points of contacts and will conduct other administrative arrangements.

Dear HoFIU,
We hope this email finds you well. Recently the Secretariat received a letter from INTERPOL expressing the organization’s interest in becoming an Observer to the Egmont Group. Based on what is stipulated in the attached document “Egmont Group Partnership with Observers and International AML/CFT Partners” (approved by the Heads of FIU in South Africa 2013), the Egmont Group Secretariat submitted this expression of interest to the Egmont Committee for consideration. During its September 2018 meetings in Sydney, the Egmont Committee reviewed the expression of interest submitted by INTERPOL and agreed on the following:
· To accept the expression of interested.
· Make a referral to the Heads of FIU for endorsement out-of-session of the above-mentioned decision.
Based on the above mentioned Procedure, together with what is stipulated in Section 6.1 B 3 of the Egmont Charter, the Secretariat will like to referral the decision taken by the Egmont Committee to the HoFIU for an out-of-session endorsement. For that purpose, please find attached a Memorandum with all the information related to this expression of interest, and the decision taken by the Egmont Committee in order to grant INTERPOL observer status to the Egmont Group.
We will appreciate your position on the requested endorsement by next Friday 30 November 2018. As usual, no reply will be considered as a tacit endorsement.
