Dear colleagues,
This is just a kind reminder that tomorrow (18th June) is the deadline for the interested FIUs to provide a speaker for the webinar on operational aspects associated with virtual assets and VASPs. Please find below the email that was circulated earlier for your reference.
Kind regards,
EGS
Dear colleagues,
As you may know, the Egmont Group Chair, in consultation with the Egmont Committee, decided on the contingency plan following the cancellation of the EC meeting in Ottawa and the postponement of the Oaxaca Plenary. Among others, the contingency plan entails that the EGS would make preparations to address/deliver the theme for this year's Plenary (i.e. FinTech with a focus on VAs) through interactive webinars for the HoFIU, during the week of July 06th ‑ 09th.
We would like to use this opportunity and invite our members to provide a speaker for the webinar #2 (Operational aspects associated with VAs), who would have a relevant experience and expertise to make a presentation on the following matters:
I. Identification of Virtual Asset Service Providers:
1.Physical presence of VASPs, 2.Usage of tools, databases, Open Source Intelligence and other research opportunities, 3.Communication channels with VASPs (e.g. obtaining and using of additional information).
II. Operational and strategic analysis related to Virtual Assets and Virtual Asset Service Providers:
1.Challenges and problems (analyses of reports, technical and expertise requirements, suspending of transactions through VASPs etc.), 2.Best practice examples (approaches, analytical products and their usage for investigating ML/TF through VA transactions, PPPs related to VA/VASPs etc.), 3.Further recommendations and suggestions.
We kindly invite you to provide your proposals by next Thursday, 18th June 2020. The Secretariat will get in touch with presenters to discuss further details.
Best regards,
EGS
