** Letter to all IEWG members**
Dear IEWG members,
We hope this email finds you well and healthy!
We are writing with regard to the IEWG eCatalogue on VASPs project. As you may remember, during the meeting in Mauritius (January 2020), the group recognized that the increasing use of virtual assets poses high risks of ML/TF and dealing with this new phenomenon is, therefore, a priority issue for FIUs. Besides developing a deeper understanding of the underlying typologies, exchange of best practices and case studies, training on VA-related analysis, and enhanced international cooperation between relevant parties on VA-related cases can yield immediate benefits.
Subsequently, during the virtual meeting in July, the IEWG concluded that an electronic catalogue
of Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) regulated and/or registered in member jurisdictions should be considered as a valuable new project. Such a catalogue will serve as a reference for FIUs to harness to know what information can be obtained from specific
VASPs and whether postponement/freezing of transactions is possible.
In this regard, we would like to ask for your kind assistance to complete the attached
information collection questionnaire developed within the IEWG eCatalogue on VASPs project.
The project team will be happy to receive replies from all IEWG members. However, due to the specific focus on the top 100 regulated VASPs, we would like to put a specific focus on the following FIUs and kindly ask them to strongly consider completing the questionnaire:
