The Belgian FIU CTIF-CFI is currently conducting a study on hawala networks in Belgium, in particular on terrorist financing risks associated with these informal payment systems.

We would be grateful if you could share your experience with us in this area. We are particularly interested in how your FIU addresses and approaches the issue of hawala (e.g. assessment of the scale of the issue in your jurisdiction, channels used to transfer funds, profiles of individuals providing these services, jurisdictions involved, legal framework if applicable, etc.).
