Letter on behalf of the Regional Reps - Mrs. Lindsey Bermingham and Mr. Daniel Thelesklaf

Dear EUROPE II members,

We thrust this email finds you well.

In preparations for the upcoming 26th Egmont Group Plenary meeting in the Hague we would like to kindly ask for your support in providing us with some case examples related to the main theme of the Plenary - Public-Public Cooperation.

These good practices should give some further insights and examples of Public-Public Cooperation from an FIU perspective. These practices should be focused on the following:

  • Cooperation with competent authorities that have the function of investigating and/or prosecuting money laundering, associated predicate offences, and terrorism financing, and seizing/freezing and confiscating criminal assets.
  • Cooperation with competent authorities that have AML/CFT supervisory or monitoring responsibilities aimed at ensuring compliance by financial institutions and DNFBP’s with AML/CFT requirements, and competent authorities receiving reports on cross border transportation of currency and DNI’s (bearer negotiable instruments).
  • Cooperation with other public competent authorities with designated responsibilities for combating ML and/or TF.

The main fields of specific interest in relation to Public-Public Cooperation are:

  • Asset tracing and securing of assets
  • Money laundering of serious tax crimes
  • Intervening on organised crime at local level
  • Counter terrorism financing.

You are kindly asked to provide the case examples to the following email address: nedko.krumov@egmont.org, by Monday, June 3rd.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Kind regards,

EGS
