During the meeting in The Hague, you endorsed the EBC 2021 Overhaul framework under the coordination of the EC Information Management Reference Group.

2021 Egmont Biennial Census (EBC) is the seventh iteration and version of the Biennial Census Application originally implemented in 2009. At the Egmont Group meeting in Jakarta, the Egmont Committee decided that the EBC requires a general overhaul in order to ensure that it still meets the needs of the members, and to align parallel data collection processes such as: EBC, FATF, annual reporting, etc. with the aim to reduce FIU’s workload. The actual design and content of the 2021 EBC must be driven by the needs of the Egmont Working Groups and Egmont Members. Therefore, during the meeting in The Hague it was decided that it is necessary to carry out a strategic re-framing of the EBC and develop a new strategic framework of the EBC.

In this regard, there is currently phase I (development of new strategic framework) of the overhaul ongoing. One of the steps envisaged within this first phase is a high-level consultations among all involved parties (i.e. WGs, Regional Reps, HoFIU) in order to collect initial views and proposals for the development of the new strategic framework, especially outlining the suggested scope, frequency as well as IT infrastructure.
