For the attention of your FIU’s representative in the Information Exchange Working Group (IEWG)

Dear IEWG regular members,

You are receiving this communication in your capacity as IEWG Regular Members, which have voting rights in the current selection process of the new IEWG Vice-Chairs.

We would like to inform you that following the election process by secret ballot, within the deadline provided the Secretariat has received ballots from 27 FIUs.

After counting the received ballots, we would like to announce that Dr. Nakampe Michael Masiapato has received 17 votes and, therefore, been selected as a new IEWG Vice-Chair.

Given that there is a tie for the second position (Mr. Muhammad Jiya and Mr. Oscar Gabriel Calvillo Salguero both have received the same number of votes – 13 each), and following the Voting Rules requirements, the Secretariat is launching another voting round for this second Vice-Chair position only. This time you will be able to vote for one of the  two candidates (either Mr. Muhammad Jiya or Mr. Oscar Gabriel Calvillo Salguero) only.

For that purpose, please find attached a ballot for casting your vote. As stipulated in para. 22 of the Voting Rules, the IEWG regular members should note the following in relation to the ballots:

  • They must indicate one candidate for whom they wish to vote by inserting the sign [x] in the box appearing opposite the name of each candidate, in this way: ×
  • The sign shall be considered as an affirmative vote in favor of the candidate so indicated
  • The ballot shall carry no other notation or sign other than those required for the purpose of indicating a vote.

All votes are secret and must be sent ONLY TO THE EGS by Friday, May 7th (COB Ottawa). After this deadline, the ballots will be counted, and the result announced. The IEWG regular members should submit only one vote per FIU to either via ESW at andrey.frolov@egmont.org or – in case of difficult access to ESW due to the pandemic - via open email to andrey.frolov@egmontsecretariat.org

We would like to take this opportunity and thank Ms. Mary Chirwa for her nomination and willingness to support the IEWG. Ms. Chirwa received 10 votes and, therefore, she will not be participating in this additional vouting round.

Please also bear in mind that the final endorsement of the two selected Vice-Chairs will be made by the Egmont Committee.
