Dear Heads of Egmont Group FIUs,
We hope this email finds you well.
Following the fruitful discussions we had in The Hague on enhancing public-public cooperation to better fight ML/TF, and consistent with the decisions taken there, please find attached for your consideration the Compendium on Enhancing Public-Public Cooperation (PPC) from an FIU Perspective.
The document has been drafted in coordination with the Chair of the 26th EG Plenary (Mrs. Hennie Verbeek-Kusters, HoFIU The Netherlands) and the EG Chair (Mr. Mariano Federici, HoFIU Argentina), has required coordination with and the prior consent of FIUs that provided best practices, and has been endorsed by the Egmont Committee. This compendium provides an overview of the Plenary discussions on PPC, detailing opportunities and challenges faced by FIUs when enhancing their domestic interaction with competent authorities. It also highlights good practices that go beyond ‘traditional’ models of cooperation. Given its relevance for other competent authorities as well, the Egmont Committee recommends the dissemination of the compendium with observers, international organizations, and other public partners. All FIUs providing good practices to the compendium have agreed on that.
Your comments to the document by Wednesday, October 23rd, 2019 (COB Ottawa), are highly appreciated. Consistent with the usual practice, no responses will be considered as tacit endorsement. If no opposition is expressed, the document will be published on the EG public website and the ESW, once endorsed by the HoFIU.
Best regards,
The Egmont Group Secretariat
