Dear Heads of Egmont Group FIUs,
We hope this email finds you well.
Consistent with the HoFIU decision from Buenos Aires, Argentine (March 2018), when the decision was made to move the EGS from Toronto to Ottawa, the Secretariat has been negotiating with Fintrac-FIU Canada a MoU for Strategic and Administrative Support of the EGS. The latest version of the MoU proposed by Fintrac-FIU Canada is attached for your consideration. The goal of the MoU, is to outline and articulate the support that FINTRAC would provide the EGS, to enhance and facilitate the work of the Secretariat, as per the FINTRAC offer presented in Buenos Aires.
In parallel, Fintrac has also been considering to second one Fintrac-FIU Canada staff to the EGS to provide support by supervising the general administration functions of the EGS (finance and accounting, HR, etc.). A draft Interchange Assignment Agreement for this purpose is available attached. In line with the Fintrac-FIU Canada offer to “permit the ES to focus more on their strategic and operational duties”, the agreement provides for the secondment of Mrs. Chantal Villeneuve, Team Leader within Fintrac-FIU Canada, to the EGS, for a 2 years’ time.
A memorandum seeking the endorsement of the HoFIU for the MoU for Strategic and Administrative Support of the EGS and the Interchange Assignment Agreement between ESG and Fintrac-FIU Canada is available attached. Once endorsed by the HoFIU, the Executive Secretary will sign both documents on behalf of the Egmont Group.
Both documents have been considered by the Egmont Committee and approved for recommendation to the HoFIU for endorsement.
