Subject: UNCITRAL - proposal for work in high-tech arbitration
Dear Jae,
I work with Itai Apter at Israel's Office of the Deputy Attorney General (International Law). We are considering to submit a proposal for future work during UNCITRAL's July 2019 Commission session, on the topic of high tech arbitration. Based on consultations we've held with high tech entrepreneurs and arbitration practitioners, there appears to be a real need for a tailored tool or instrument in this field. At this stage, our proposal is merely that the UNCITRAL Secretariat examine whether potential future work in this field might be warranted. The proposal does not pre-judge the outcome of such assessment or how to carry it out - this could potentially be discussed at the Commission.
Please find attached an initial draft of the proposal we would like to submit. It is still being circulated internally such that it remains preliminary in nature. We welcome your comments to the attached draft. We've also forwarded it to a few delegations, to see if they are interested in co-sponsoring or supporting the proposal.
Regarding the deadline for formal submission – I understand that we need to provide it as early as possible so that it can be translated and published on the Commission's website. Is there a firm deadline?
